The Egyptian Arabian breed is the champion of all horses and the epitome of equine beauty. Its bloodline arrived from the Valley of the Nile, descendant of the Arabian Desert, when Pharaohs ruled to the Bedouins. Arabians are a desert war horse. American and European breeders were drawn to their strength, stamina and splendor in the late 1800s.

Lady Ann Blunt first imported the Arabian horse to England. These were later known as ‘Crabbet Arabians’, named after her farm, Crabbet Park. Arabian horses were similarly named in the United States after the owning family or farm.

Arabian horses touched the lives of President George Washington and General Ulysses S. Grant, each riders in their day. In 1893, the Turkish government exhibited 45 purebreds at the Chicago World’s Fair, marking a large U.S. importation. Financial complications led to their auction just a year later.

Early U.S. Arabian breeders resided primarily in the Eastern and Midwestern territories, importing horses from Egypt and England. After significant importations in the early twentieth century, U.S. breeding programs evolved and fed the domestic need.

Arabian horses are one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Arabians are the oldest of all light breeds, differing largely in their lack of selective breeding throughout the centuries. Instead, these horses are the product of thousands of years of natural effort to sustain purity. Arabians excel in show, from cutting and reining to jumping and dressage. Arabian horses are an integral part of families for many horse enthusiasts across the nation, with prices similar to that of other popular breeds.

The Arabian horse tradition continues to flourish. Fox Meadow Farm horses represent the finest Egyptian and Sport Horse bloodlines in the world. Each represents that which Arabian breeders require today: classic beauty, intelligence and athleticism with a genetic dynasty traced back further than any other equine breed.
